DIOR RESORT SHOW 2016: The French Riviera Magic

Dior’s latest Resort 2016 collection was unveiled in the south of France on Monday. The Resort show was displayed on an extravagant scale, once again, at the stunning Palais Bulles. The “Bubble Palace,” designed by the Hungarian architect Antti Lovag and now home to the legendary designer Pierre Cardin, served as the backdrop for the Cruise presentation. The collection itself was the creation of Christian Dior’s creative director, Raf Simons. The futuristic setting, not to mention the blissful sea views, added to the show’s uniqueness, playing up the designer’s impeccable imagination and artistry.

The Resort collection included distinctive shapes with Raf Simons’ iconic signature. The looks included the classic Bar jacket and pantsuit, full-skirted coats, net overdresses, and ribbed knit dresses made up playfully with their patch-work, crochet, and laser-cut, leather details. The models showcased Simons’ dramatic looks in shimmering fabrics, with barely there make-up, while strolling through the pink, tunnel-like corridors of the bubble house. The curvilinear collection was refreshing, elegant, and modern.

Among the front row stars were the brand’s ambassador Marion Cotillard, actresses Dakota Fanning and Zoe Kravitz, and fashionista Miroslava Duma. The legend, Pierre Cardin himself, was in attendance as well. The incredible scenery of the Palace swooped us in, adding to the fashion presentation’s grandeur. It was a magical show that will speak volumes in our wardrobes next year!
