TREND: Dressing Surreal

salvador-dali-6

Inspiration for your closet can be found in many places, especially at art exhibitions. Our latest trend was inspired by the works of the late surrealist painter, Dali. And it appears we are not the only ones who have been inspired by him.

Designers too have to find inspiration somewhere, and it appears a number of them were inspired to incorporate surrealism into their collections. Vivetta Ponti, Italian Contemporary designer of her self named brand Vivetta, states her love of surrealism on her site also citing things such as “the fifties and sixties, french new wave, sixties Italian horror movies, vintage dolls,” among other avant-garde things that could be our next obsession too. If you didn’t know of her before, we’re sure you’ll love her collections like we do.

Another designer with a flair for the surreal is Henrik Vibskov. His collections almost look more like an art show as they parade down the runway than a typical fashion show. Since we like to think of our closets more as art collections than just as an assortment of clothing, we recommend adding something new and a bit daring from his collection like this Origami Cocoon Face Dress.

Your body is your canvas.

Try something new… make it surreal!
