SPEAKEASY: Raines Law Room

SPEAKEASY: Raines Law Room

Nestled in the heart of the Flatiron district, Raines Law Room is one of our favorite speakeasies, and easy to miss, unless you know what you are looking for. A small black door marks their entrance, and on a street that is mostly business, not pleasure, it is truly an unexpected delight. You’re either given entry based on the number in your party, or you’re asked to leave a phone number, if, as is often the case, the bar is full.

Once inside, you’ll see that the wait was completely worth your time. Their inconspicuous entrance, and wait times also mean that there is no standing room in the bar, they only admit as many people as they have seats, so it’s a comfortable place to visit after a busy day in the city.
Their luxurious sofas, dramatic lighting, and excellent service are only matched by their spectacular cocktail selection. With a menu that changes all of the time, and seasonal offerings created by their in-house mixologists, there is something to suit every palate. Current offerings, like Right Now, The Chancellor, and Sweater Weather are fall inspired, and hit a nice range of flavors, from light to bold.

If you want to avoid long wait times, check out Raines Law Room closer to 5pm, when they open. Their beautiful space, top-notch offerings, and moderate noise level, make it the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of the city.
