STRIP, STRIP, HOORAY BY DITA VON TEESE

STRIP, STRIP, HOORAY BY DITA VON TEESE

Masha in New York

After hearing that Dita Von Teese was coming to NYC to perform, I began researching tickets, only to find out that they were sold-out online. After looking further, and being offered tickets at 4X the retail price from my American Express concierge service, I finally just went down to the theater myself, and was lucky enough to get a table for opening night. While the seats themselves weren’t very comfortable, it was nice to be able to see the show during the last week of her US tour.

Housed in the Gramercy Theater (the entrance of which smells a bit like an old tattoo parlor), Strip, Strip, Hooray combined dance, stripping, and beautiful costumes, but true highlight of the show was Dita herself.

said MC, Murray Hill, who joined Von Teese on stage, and he isn’t wrong, she is certainly as seductive and addictive. While I had never seen her perform before, anyone could appreciate the talent she brings to the stage, as long as a little skin and colorful language doesn’t scare them.

In one act, she wore crystal-covered, custom Louboutin’s, while seductively riding a bull for the audience. She was met with endless adoration from her fans, who blurred the line between adoration and goddess worship.

Next time Von Teese performs in NYC, I hope it is in a venue as glamorous as Von Teese hereself, but none the less, the show was worth seeing. While Strip, Strip, Hooray is still “sold-out”, more tickets are usually released the day of the show, so stop by the theater in person if you would really like to attend.

Come prepared with a good memory and an open mind- while photos and videos are of the show are strictly forbidden, sex is encouraged.
