JEAN NATION : Double Denim Action Trend

America’s favorite fabric keeps reinventing. The uber popular material composing every modern wardrobe, has taken a new aesthetic. Being molded and featured in various styles, washes and cuts on major designer runways and fashion shows. From the classic 5 pocket jean to patchwork frocks and shoes, denim takes center stage.

Featured by nearly every designer in their collections, such as Christophe Lemaire, Prada, Maison Martin Margiela, Kenzo, Calvin Klein, Balmain, Sonia Rykiel, Vanessa Bruno, Stella McCartney. The trend dates back to 2010 when Chloe brought the cool wave of patchwork denim, and 3.1 Phillip Lim releasing a denim capsule collection in 2014, consisting of classic trench coats, moto jackets, blazers, and tailored pants.

The recent Spring/ Summer 2015 collection offered much variety and denim inspired looks. Margiela’s use of denim prevailed, delivering eclectic pieces featuring patchwork cropped jeans, quilted vests and oversized jackets. While Kenzo displayed a pale blue denim theme, featuring relaxed, easy cut denim pieces with a streetwise sensibility.

The double denim trend is gaining popularity among the notable fashionistas more than ever. Dress it up or down, mix and match pairing together different textures and hues (think blue, black, navy, or even burgundy ) or denim-like fabrics. A combo of endless possibilities with a sense of wearability. An international staple for many years, denim has an element of classic. Head-to-toe denim can look incredibly chic, with 70, 80’s feel or 90’s vibe. Achieve a polished look, blending various styles, from denim jumpsuits to the classic boot cut jean and crisp denim shirt.

The overall look should not be complicated, the main thing is the fit. Balance out the shades and proportions, sticking to one shape whether you’re opting for cropped or wide-legged, slouchy or skinny. Taking traditionally simple denim pieces and adding more striking, edgier piece of different texture. For a more subdued and sophisticated look, go for darker hues in denim. Put on your favorite Levi’s pair with a denim button down or throw on a jean kimono jacket over a cute denim mini. Now is the time to revisit your old jean pile and refresh it with the newest designer styles. Louis Vuitton denim patchwork boots from Spring/Summer 2015 collection, anyone?
