Technically NY Fashion Week is over. But before we turn to London where the Fall 2016 shows of the first day are practically through, check out the last bit of advice we garnered from the NYC Street Style show.

DENIM

We love denim…. It’s so practical, which these days (hallelujah) is more important than any style. And right now there are so many things that can be done with jeans— distress and rip them, keep them raw blue and clean, wear them loosely or hugging tightly, cuff them or even high-water them. You can get them wide-leg, bell-shaped, boyfriend sagged, a cool denim skirt, or a even dress if you like.

THE BLACK CLICHÉ

There is a generalization in the New York fashion industry that the fashionable inhabitants of the city boast quasi all-black wardrobes. And like all great generalizations, they are never the total truth. Leandra Medine is the perfect example of a NYC fashion icon that we’ve never seen wear all black…. ever. However, we did see a lot of all black or mostly black ensembles walking to the shows. And, we have to say, we kind of like the black cliché after all.

THE WHITE JACKET

Last but not least, we couldn’t help but notice the incredible white jackets at the shows. It’s the last bit of advice we have to give before we all turn our gaze to London. If you need to add a bright new element to your looks, go out and find yourself a lovely white blazer or coat.
