LOUIS VUITTON CRUISE 2016: The Desert is Calling

LOUIS VUITTON CRUISE 2016: The Desert is Calling

Louis Vuitton’s latest Resort show took place on May 6 at the Palm Springs estate of late comedic genius, Bob Hope. The modernist landmark, which was designed by the American architect John Lautner to resemble a volcanic scene, served as the perfect venue for the show. It was visionary; the models emerging form the house and then descending into the red-hues of the landscape. The latest collection by Nicolas Ghesquière seemed to be from another world, almost as though it was inspired by this ethereal desert setting.

Every ensemble seemed equal parts soft and tough, flowing and stationary, feminine and masculine, reminiscent of eras past and of ones to come.  The space-age like architecture, added to the enigmatic feel of the collection, as well as the dramatic music and edgy, nude-faced, messy-hair beauties that strutted the cemented walkways. Their flowing, ankle-grazing chiffon skirts were paired with sneakers, they wore leather dresses with something akin to hiking boots, and donned biker jackets while they clung to dainty clutches. In short, the collection was many things at once, and we loved it all!
